About this Job
Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, these positions are responsible for facilitating the recreation programs, camps and other recreational based initiatives while creating a safe and positive environment for all to participate.
You will have good communication skills and be able to take direction from your supervisor. A demonstrated healthy, drug free, self-sufficient lifestyle must be exhibited as you are seen as a leader and mentor for children, youth and KFDN Citizens. A positive attitude, punctuality and regular attendance is required.
Coursework and workshops in Recreational Leadership, Outdoor Education, Child Development or similar.
Experience leading and supervising groups in of various ages during recreation activities;
Experience developing monthly program activity plans and schedules;
Experience running day camps or similar programs is an asset;
Knowledge of KDFN history, culture, demographics, families, social dynamics prevailing in the community, our goals and aspirations.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience will equally be considered.
Conditions of Employment:
• Completion of an acceptable criminal record and vulnerable sector search; Valid Yukon Driver’s license (class 4 desirable); First Aid and CPR, and Food Safe certificates are mandatory; willingness to acquire at the first available opportunity within no more than three months from date of hire.
Job Requirement: This position requires flexibility of working hours in order to arrange and participate in evening and weekend recreational activities including; workshops, traditional healing, sewing circles, retreats and other recreational / health events.
