The Boys and Girls Club of Yukon is looking for energetic, dedicated people to work as Middle Years Youth Workers in our Weekday Warriors program. This position would entail providing supervision, education, safety and leadership to youth 5 – 12 years of age. The Weekday Warriors program is a successful, affordable, after-school program for kids which runs out of multiple elementary schools. Youth Workers will take an active leadership role in planning and participating in program preparation, delivery, and paperwork. The Middle Years Youth Worker is expected to manage group dynamics at each school, liaise with the school and parents, and foster healthy and fun relationships with the kids.
The Middle Years Youth Worker is expected to be able to:
- facilitate programming appropriate for children ages 5 - 12
- prepare and manage attendance lists
- keep and manage a small inventory of program supplies
- liaison with parents and school officials
- aid in preparation of daily snacks
The Middle Years Youth Worker position requires a strong background in youth work as well as the following certification:
- CPR/First Aid
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain a clear criminal record check.
Contracts run from late August 2013 to mid June 2014. Considerations for shorter periods may be made but are not preferable.
