About this Job
Kluane First Nation is a self-governing First Nation located at Burwash Landing on the shores of Kluane Lake in the Yukon. Reporting to the Health & Social Services Director, the Health Programs Coordinator serves as a liaison between citizens of KFN and various health providers.
They are responsible for developing and organizing cultural and recreational activities for all age groups that enhances mental, physical and spiritual well-being. They also provide information and cultural support to KFN Citizens and former Indian Residential School students and their families.
• Coordinates health related workshops such as injury prevention, pandemic preparedness and various health promotions such as: diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.
• Maintains positive communications with external health agencies, KFN Elder’s council, community members and be able to work effectively as a team member of the Health & Social Services department.
• Provides cultural support, coordinates appointments with counselors and provides relevant support and information to KFN former Indian Residential School survivors.
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary Degree or Diploma in a Health Services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You will require excellent communications and listening skills, be able to relate to people from diverse age and cultural groups, and be able to work independently to coordinate, plan and direct programs to meet goals and objectives. Experience working with First Nations people and an understanding and appreciation for the health, cultural and social needs of small northern communities and the impacts of the Indian Residential School legacy are essential.
Other qualifications include office computer skills (Work, Excel, Outlook), experience writing and submitting proposals, and implementing, coordinating and reporting on funded projects, knowledge of Yukon, Yukon First Nations and Canada Health program resources.
Conditions of Employment:
First Aid and CPR Certificate (willingness to obtain), Criminal Records Check, Valid Yukon Driver’s Licence (abstract required).
Exact pay range: $45,792 to $65,176 per annum based on 70 hours bi-weekly
