Capstone Mining Corp. is a Canadian base metals mining company with two producing copper mines, the Cozamin copper-silver-zinc-lead mine located in Zacatecas State, Mexico and the Minto copper-gold-silver mine in Yukon, Canada. In addition, Capstone has two development projects, the large scale 70% owned Santo Domingo copper-iron-gold project in Chile in partnership with Korea Resources Corporation and the 100% owned Kutcho copper-zinc-gold-silver project in British Columbia, as well as other exploration properties.

The Minto Mine is an open pit and underground mining operation with conventional crushing, grinding, and flotation to produce copper concentrates with significant gold and silver credits. In June 2012, the results of the pre-feasibility study Phase VI were released which incorporated the results of some earlier exploration success, extending the mine life to 2022.

Job Title: Senior Mine Engineer

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Practice and promote Company safety, environmental, confidentiality and operational policies and procedures;

• Supervise the engineering team for both Underground and Open Pit Operation

• Assist in implementing the vision for the growth of the mine department and your direct reports that will support at all levels the expected growth of the operation.

• Control of all accounting related to mining contractors, including reviewing accuracy of invoices.

• Providing overall direction for design and execution of the mine plan for both Underground and Open Pit Operation.

• Implementing best practice in Surveying, Ground Control Mine Design and Ventilation.

• Implement short and long term plans.

• Perform capital studies and create operating and maintenance budgets.

• Co-ordinate the activity of mine personnel and contractors, with emphasis on safety.

• Ensures production objectives are met at the lowest cost and highest quality.

• Achieve objectives through strong leadership, teamwork and delegation to supervisors.

• Assist with administrative and financial requirements including budgets, report writing, tables and spreadsheets. Ensures the smooth flow of information and documentation between the Mine Department, Contractors, and the Company’s Administrative and Financial Departments, meeting regulatory, policy and procedural requirements.

• Promote team-building at all levels, and a respectful cross-cultural work environment.

• Other duties may be assigned from time to time to the Senior Mine Engineer as required by the company.

Position Requirements:

• Professional designation (P.Eng)

• Seven to ten years’ experience

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Valid driver’s license.

• Supervisor’s certification.

• Demonstrated knowledge of safe work procedures and practices.

• Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite and Planning software such as EPS, MineSight, Vulcan

• Must be able to read, and interpret building specifications, blueprints and as-builds.

• Must possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.

• Ability to inspire teamwork, confidence and cooperation;

• Ability to relate well to a variety of styles; builds trust and consensus. Must deal with co-workers, direct-reports and clients in a calm, positive, courteous and respectful manner.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, this position requires working at a remote worksite on a two week on, two week off schedule or a 4 day on 3 day off rotation depending on your primary residence. This position will be expected to provide coverage while the Chief Engineer is offsite. Exposure to extreme temperatures in both seasons may be required for fieldwork. Working in extreme conditions such as snow, mud or ice may be required.
