Capstone Mining Corp. is a Canadian base metals mining company with two producing copper mines, the Cozamin copper-silver-zinc-lead mine located in Zacatecas State, Mexico and the Minto copper-gold-silver mine in Yukon, Canada. In addition, Capstone has two development projects, the large scale 70% owned Santo Domingo copper-iron-gold project in Chile in partnership with Korea Resources Corporation and the 100% owned Kutcho copper-zinc-gold-silver project in British Columbia, as well as other exploration properties.

The Minto Mine is an open pit and underground mining operation with conventional crushing, grinding, and flotation to produce copper concentrates with significant gold and silver credits. In June 2012, the results of the pre-feasibility study Phase VI were released which incorporated the results of some earlier exploration success, extending the mine life to 2022.

Job Title: Mine Geologist

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Responsible for carrying out geology assignments and tasks as directed by the Senior Geologist or his designate.

• General responsibility is to support the Geology Department by providing geological mapping, sampling, grade control and geological input for the daily operations and production for the Minto Mine. As a member of the mine geology team you will report to the Senior Geologist and liaise with engineering, mine departments and Senior Management, as required.

• Key objectives for the Geology Department are to maintain the grade control for the Minto copper-gold open pit operations, provide support to the underground development, and participate in the development of a geotechnical model for the surface pit and underground, combined with the input of information to maintain the ore reserve data.

• The key objective for this position is the mapping of geological and structural features within the active pit and the recording and integration of the collected data into the mine geological software and high resolution pit wall scans to assist analysis and interpretation for the construction and maintenance of the geotechnical model and wall stability projections.

• Prepare and manage data, including; reports, table summaries, models, volume calculations, status maps and spread-sheets using Word, Excel, AutoCAD and Vulcan.

• Assist other geological peers and senior geological personnel with tasks and assignments as directed for both the surface mining operations and the underground development.

• Collection of geotechnical data and the recording and analysis of control points and monitoring devices.

• Care and maintenance of equipment.

• Practice and promote company environment, health, safety and operational policies and procedures.

• Maintain valid Driver’s License.

• Obtain & maintain First Aid Certification.

• Other duties may be assigned from time to time as required by the Company.

Position Requirements:

• Standard First Aid Certification.

• Bachelor’s degree in geology-related field.

• P.Geo preferred.

• 3 - 5 years of experience, with emphasis on geological and structural mapping.

• Good working knowledge of Vulcan preferred, experience with other Geological Software an asset.

• Highly proficient with the MS Office suite of software.

This position requires working at a remote worksite on a two week on, two week off schedule, or a 4 day on 3 day off rotation depending on your primary residence. Prolonged periods of time at a desk working at a computer may be required. The position also requires walking to and from different locations on site and prolonged periods of standing may be required. Exposure to extreme temperatures in both seasons may be required for fieldwork. Working in extreme conditions such as snow, mud or ice may be required.
