Responsibilities
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Senior Mine Geologist will play a key
role in the safe operations of the underground mine. More specific responsibilities include:
• Ensure that underground stope development is efficiently planned and carried out
• Direct development and production rounds, either personally or through subordinates
•Oversee the daily grade control program
• Map faults, folds, and other geotechnical features
•Work closely with Engineering to adjust stope plans as necessary to follow the ore zone or
blending requirements
• Oversee the daily sampling, assaying, and production reporting process
• Assist with preparing and updating theWolverine ore reserve estimate
Requirements
Geology related university degree and a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible
experience in underground mining, preferably with VMS deposits or structurally
complex orebodies
•Willingness and ability to communicate effectively with miners and other
underground personnel regarding geological requirements
•Demonstrated record of safety leadership
• Experience in development of a new underground mine operation will be an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work a rotational work schedule of 2 weeks in x 2 weeks out
•Consent to a pre-employment medical examination which includes a drug &
alcohol screening
Wolverine is a “dry camp”, fly-in/fly-out underground mine operation. The minesite is located
midway between Ross River and Watson Lake on the Robert Campbell Highway and is
approximately 280 km by air northeast ofWhitehorse.
