Alexco Resource Corp. owns and operates the Bellekeno silver mine, one of several mineral properties held by Alexco which encompass substantially all of the historical Keno Hill Silver District located in Canada's Yukon Territory. Alexco's primary near-term exploration objective is to unlock value in the silver-rich Keno Hill District, and it is focused on growth by advancing its promising District properties to development decisions. Employing a unique business model, Alexco also provides mine-related environmental services, remediation technologies, and reclamation and mine closure services to both government and industry clients through the Alexco Environmental Group, its wholly-owned environmental services division.
The Company is currently recruiting for a:
Human Resources Coordinator
Reporting to the Business Services Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Providing interpretation of the Yukon Employment Standards Act and other applicable employment legislation on behalf of site Managers;
Assist both employees and managers with processes in regards to Short/ Long Term Disability, WCB issues, Modified Duty, Return to Work and Apprenticeship programs;
Assist managers with disciplinary action and termination protocol;
Assist with the planning and provision of new employee orientations to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives;
Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems;
Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination;
Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, terminations, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates;
Create job descriptions and wage scale for positions as required in conjunction with Department Managers;
Confidential Document control;
Supervise and assist on-site admin staff as required; and
Perform special projects and other related duties as required.
Education & Experience Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or equivalent;
3-5 years of work related experience;
Excellent organizational, written and oral skills;
Minimum of intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook;
Experience as a supervisor using time management skills considered an asset;
Ability to actively listen to all parties as a neutral representative;
Ability to be discrete/tactful, and maintain confidentiality of all parties;
Approachable and trustworthy personality to handle sensitive matters;
First Aid, CPR, WHMIS; and
Valid class 5 driver’s licence and a clean driver abstract.
Alexco maintains camp facilities in Elsa, Yukon, where employees and contractors are housed. This position is based in Elsa and the rotation schedule is 7 days on and 7 days off working 10 hour days. This is a full time term position, and wage is commensurate with experience. Alexco provides full benefits packages comparable to current industry standards.
