National Aboriginal Day is a community celebration held on June 21 at the Kwanlin Dun Centre. Program will include music, traditional drumming and dance, children’s activities, a bannock bake off and much more.
The Adäka Cultural Festival will kick off at 6pm on June 21 and run until June 27th. The festival brings First Nations artists from across Yukon together with guest artists from other Aboriginal communities in Canada and beyond, for 7 days of programming that includes an art exhibition and sale, art demonstrations, workshops, fashion show, comedy, storytelling, drumming, cultural presentations and nightly performances.
- National Aboriginal Day Coordinator (4 week position)
The NAD Coordinator will work with event partners to plan and implement a full day of programming in celebration of National Aboriginal Day.
- Artist Needs Assistant (12 week position)
The Production Assistant provides administrative and production support to the Festival management team and is responsible for overseeing artists’ travel, accommodation and hospitality.
- Fashion Show Assistant Coordinator (4 week position)
The Fashion Show Assistant Coordinator will assist with the implementation of the fashion show program.
- Workshop Program Assistant (2 week position)
The Workshop Program Assistant will assist with the delivery of approximately 30 workshops and special presentations during the Festival.
- Volunteer Coordinator (4 week position)
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for implementing a Volunteer Program for the Festival, which will include volunteer recruitment, scheduling and supervision.
- Stage Manager (10 day position)
The Stage Manager works closely with the sound technician and is responsible for running all festival performances, supervises all technical requirements - blocking, lighting cues, and entrances of all the performers. Previous Stage Management experience is required.
- Logistics Coordinator (3 week position)
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for site management and security, transportation, set-up/tear down, and provides support to festival staff during the Festival.
- Gallery Sales Manager (10 day position)
The Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing art /merchandise sales, petty cash, sales reports, artist accounts and will also supervise sales staff.
- Gallery Sales Assistant (8 day position)
The Sales Assistant will assist with gallery sales, art packaging and customer relations. Sales experience is required.
- Art Inventory Manager (10 day position)
The Inventory Manager will be responsible for recording and tracking all art inventory, sales and artist payments. Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel is required
RATE OF PAY: $16 - $25 per hour depending on position and experience.
