About this Job

We are an energetic and passionate group of individuals whose mandate is to carry out research, education, outreach and other activities with a view to mitigating human-wildlife conflicts.

We are seeking a dynamic self-starter with excellent communication and public relations/social marketing skills who can work independently and collaboratively to achieve this goal.

Contract Service Amount: $10K minimum to be re-newed March 31, 2014

Hours of Work: as per contract services (approximately 400 hours)

Job Title: Outreach Education/Program Coordinator

Job Summary:

 Manage the administrative and financial affairs of the Centre for Human-Wildlife Conflict Solutions, as governed by the Board of Directors.

 Implement programs, projects and initiatives approved by the Board.

 Provide education (products, programs and communication pieces) focused on the mandate of the organization - to reduce human-wildlife conflict.



Develop administrative policies and terms of reference for the organization

Financial management - accounts payable and receivables, bank deposits and general accounting

Coordinate Board meetings and Annual General meeting for the Society

Ensure the Board is in compliance with the Societies Act

Manage and maintain a filing system

Project Management

Co-ordinate fundraising activities and prepare funding proposals

Prepare project and financial reports as required by funding agencies

Oversee projects to ensure timely and efficient completion

Work directly with project partners, contractors and volunteers to deliver projects

Education/Public Outreach

Attend community functions and provide outreach education

Respond to public inquiries as needed

Manage the website, facebook page and other social media outlets

Liaise with government, First Nations, community associations and environmental organizations

Recruit, organize and coordinate volunteers

Prepare and deliver communication briefs for the media


Employment experience in education outreach programming

Employment experience in general office administration and project management

Computer proficiency - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher

Knowledge of local wildlife and human-wildlife conflict management

Personal suitability:

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work effectively with limited supervision. The ability to prioritize duties, meet deadlines and multi-task is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member with the Board, project partners, contractors and volunteers are required.
