About the Kluane First Nation
Growing from the shores of Kluane Lake in all directions is Ä sì Keyi, (My Grandfather’s Country) a forest nation, that stretches to the Ruby and Nisling mountain ranges to the northeast and the St. Elias Mountains to the southwest.
The Kluane Lake area is the traditional territory of the Lù’àn Män Ku Dän, the Kluane Lake People. The majority of the First Nation people from this area are of Southern Tutchone descent and follow a matriarchal moiety system of two clans, Khanjet (Crow Clan) or Ägunda(WolfClan). Other ancestors of the Kluane First Nation came from nations such as the Tlingit, Upper Tanana and Northern Tutchone.
Kluane First Nation has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Finance to join their friendly and dedicated team in Burwash Landing, Yukon Territory.
In this executive-level role, you will develop and implement the Kluane First Nation financial strategy, and you will report to the Executive Director to:
•Oversee all aspects of KFN’s financial functions, including forecasting, accounting and budgeting;
•Design and coordinate a wide variety of accounting and statistical data and reports; and
•Manage KFN’s finance and accounting team.
To apply, you will need a university degree in Accounting or Finance (CA, CMA or CGA) along with 5-10 years of experience in a senior level finance or accounting position.
Previous experience executing strategic planning and with contracting or negotiation is essential to the role, and you must be proficient in working with automated financial and accounting systems such as Simply, Adagio, and Excel.
Experience in budgeting, internal controls, and asset/change management will put you a step ahead of the rest! It will add to your success if you have knowledge of Federal and Territorial financial regulations and managing contribution agreement requirements.
Crucial to the role is superior analytical thinking, planning prioritization and execution skills as well as the ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports/statements/projections, and assist departments with timely financial reports.
Kluane First Nation is seeking a candidate with awareness of social issues as well as recreational, social and life skills programming and activities relevant to First Nations and small northern communities.

The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive salary of $85,000 to $95,000 per year based on experience along with:
