Job Description/Duties:
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Select, lead, coach/mentor, direct and manage (including conducting performance appraisals, discipline/work plans when required, Attendance Management Program, when required) for three Senior Customer Solutions Experts and two Customer Solutions Experts in responding to business customer service and proposal requests. This includes ensuring development and competency enhancement for the incumbents. 2. With the Northwestel Sales, Carrier Services and Affiliate organizations as primary internal customers of this group, key responsibilities will include the development of solutions that meet specific customer needs and result in long term profitability. 3. Champion process improvement initiatives within the team to ensure that effective and sustainable customer solutions are developed in a timely manner, and that company resources are used as efficiently as possible. 4. Actively participate in the research, development, and implementation of advanced network solutions, for northern customers. Significant focus will be given to the development of next generation satellite solutions, as well as to new network (WAN and LAN), Internet technologies and applications (Video, VoIP, IP-VPN, etc). 5. Provide leadership in the provision of solutions, with the assistance of internal Northwestel resources and departments (e.g., Operations, Sales, Legal, Regulatory, Implementation, Customer Experience, Marketing), in order to facilitate the evolution from solution concept to deployment through the development of effective operational plans that ensure appropriate processes are in place and implemented. 6. Research technical solutions by sourcing and evaluating vendor proposals. Explore potential alliances in order to provide more complete and valuable solutions to our customers. 7. Assist with the development of contracts (for sales, purchase or maintenance services) and/or business models, which address Northwestel’s interests (minimize liability, increase flexibility, maximize revenues, etc). This may be completed with the assistance of internal legal or other departmental resources.

Requirements/Qualifications:
This position requires an engineering degree (or technical diploma supplemented by five year’s relevant experience) supplemented by business courses, or a business degree, with a technology major (an MBA is an asset). In addition to the educational credentials (or equivalencies) the incumbent must possess at least seven year’s of previous experience in the data communications or telecommunications and business development fields. Solution development experience relating specifically to mining, oil and gas, and other natural resource organizations would be considered a strong asset. Previous staff management experience of at least two years is required. Excellent analytical, research, business modelling, technical, interpersonal, communication (oral, written and presentation), project management/planning, and leadership/staff management skills are required.
